Rebuilding - II

I'm not afraid to take a stand
Everybody come take my hand
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road
-----

It was a rough week. Not only did I make it I beat my weekly quota!

Rest Is Important

If I've learned anything this week is that you can't over do it. I've been extraordinarily tired this week. Less sleep more junk in my system. I am not a happy boy.  I had a Monster Energy drink once or twice a day everyday this week.  Only 6 hours of sleep as well. My mental capacity was well suited but physically I was drained.

I was also eating more junk food.  Superbowl Sunday had left me with a bit of leftovers.  I had mac and cheese and pork roast. Recipe here Food Network. The pork roast, I threw some salt and pepper and garlic powder and roasted it for a bit.

Running

Five Fingers

I definitely feel a different spring to my step. Different muscles taking over getting stronger. It's certainly could have contributed to my overall physical drain. I think it is a good kind of tired though.  It's certainly true that you need to start out slow in these things. You are building a different running stride. You can feel different muscles being used. I can feel my calves more than anything now.

Would I go back to my cross trainers? I'd go another week or two with these five fingers and switch between them and cross trainers. It would cause muscle confusion and help with my training in the long run I believe. Just like how swimming and cycling have different dynamics and use different muscle groups.

Yoga Update

Yoga, made me sleepy. I'm still not incredibly flexible like the instructor is but I am getting a bit better. The guy has no problem doing a full split. Wednesday as I said in my last post is stretch yoga or yin yoga. I need do this more often during the week but Wednesday is the only day that is offered up for this.  There is a hot yoga on Monday's but I have prior engagements.

I am going to continue doing Yoga as I can definitely feel a benefit to this. Just like in swimming I feel calmer.  I can think and be alone in my thoughts. It is genuinely rewarding.

The Funnies

Two things made me crack up this week.  I mean, lots of things make me crack up but these two specifically.

The first, while on the treadmill my phone kept moving over to the right had to keep pushing it back like a typewriter.  Ran .10 miles DING, slide phone back, continue running.

The second I met my collar bone for the first time. I mean I really noticed it. Then I started to notice my arms being toned from all the swimming I am doing.

I felt sexy.

That's how I felt.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Yoga always makes me sleepy too! Something about all that deep breathing just makes me wanna doze off.
