Team PAWS!
I joined Team PAWS! It's official i'm all signed up. I shall run with the team for the Shamrock Shuffle. That is coming up April 7th! My oh my how time flies.
Why join?
Running in itself is a good thing to do. Entering a race is awesome. I needed to go bigger. I needed stop thinking about myself and do something for others.
What is PAWS?
Team PAWS is an athletic team dedicated to raising funds for the PAWS organization. (Pets Are Worth Saving) Here is some info from PAWS website.
PAWS Chicago is the city's largest No Kill humane organization, focused on solutions to end the killing of homeless pets. Since our founding in 1997, homeless dogs and cats killed annually in the City of Chicago has dropped more than 50 percent. PAWS Chicago is working to build a No Kill Chicago -- a city where pets are no longer destroyed just because they are homeless

Real Training Has Begun
Month of February despite my downtime due to my feet and limping was a success. I ran biked and swam 130 miles. (25 mile improvement from January) However, with 5 months left till the triathlon I need to kick things into high gear with my training. I am happy to report I am back on the treadmill as of last week.
Swimming I've started doing only freestyle as most people do freestyle during the race. This is a specific challenge of mine. I really think I need a coach. (Position open) However, I also learned my pool is 25 yards long. So some of my distance calculations have been off. I did 10 laps doing freestyle and unfortunately my leg cramped up pretty bad but I was aiming for 10 regardless.
I've been doing breaststroke with hypoxic training. (Controlling breath and going longer without grabbing air) However, breaststroke is less intense compared to freestyle. This is going to be a fun challenge. My short term goal will be 10 laps by end of March without rest. (No hypoxic training yet)
Volunteering
My core has 3 aspects. Rest, Work, Exercise. However, surrounding the core is Play, Volunteer, and Learn. I will be fulfilling Volunteering aspects of my life plan. I have my first dog town shift tomorrow! Wish me luck.
